The pamphlet below is a guide surrounding constitutionalising and, by extension, group forming. It explains how we can make constitutionalising (the process of reaching a conclusion to important questions about a group) an empowering process for groups to go through. Reaching clear answers about these questions is, arguably, one of the most important first steps of beginning any organisation, including cooperatives.
The pamphlet below is a guide surrounding the process of building coalitions and networks; you can picture this as the next step from the pamphlet on constitutionalising – it looks into the difficulties that may arise when constitutionalising, and how to resolve these easily and peacefully.
Communities
A good example of how cooperative organising can enable radical change in communities and societies is the Footprint printing cooperative. The research study below explores this cooperative to unravel the radical political potential of cooperative organising.
To find out more information, the link below will take you to Community Economies – a research network that investigates many different types of community economies – including, but not limited to, cooperatives.
Franz and Elzenbaumer, however, have gone further than this, investigating the framework of Community Economies from a an autonomist and feminist Marxist perspective. In this way, they investigated how community economies can impact socially and politically engaged projects, such as cooperatives. More specifically, they focus on commoning as a basis for eco-social justice, commons and enclosures, commons-based production and diverse economies, and finally, diverse economies themselves.
